IMBOLC or CANDLEMAS is the name of the festival at the start of the month of February. It is symbolic in the beautiful little snowdrop flower - the first flower of Spring, signifying Hope of better things to come after the long dark days of Winter.

Winter Solstice



The next picture is of Wayland's Smithy, it was taken on a cold lonely Winter Solstice afternoon. Standing there in total solitude, it was easy to imagine how it must have been at this place aeons before. The wind was wild and rushed through the tall trees talking in some strange language of happenings from long ago.

Lammas

Lammas is the first of the three Harvest festivals. It takes place on or around the first of August. Lammas means loaf or bread in old english.
